The Imperial Council - /r/eu4 Weekly General Help Thread: February 7 2022

    Posted: 07 Feb 2022 06:00 AM PST

Please check our previous Imperial Council thread for any questions left unanswered

Welcome to the Imperial Council of r/eu4, where your trusted and most knowledgeable advisors stand ready to help you in matters of state and conquest.

This thread is for any small questions that don't warrant their own post, or continued discussions for your next moves in your Ironman game. If you'd like to channel the wisdom and knowledge of the master tacticians of this subreddit, and more importantly not ruin your Ironman save, then you've found the right place!

Important: If you are asking about a specific situation in your game, please post screenshots of any relevant map modes (diplomatic, political, trade, etc) or interface tabs (economy, military, ideas, etc). Please also explain the situation as best you can. Alliances, army strength, ideas, tech etc. are all factors your advisors will need to know to give you the best possible answer.

    Tactician's Library:

Below is a list of resources that are helpful to players of all skill levels, meant to assist both those asking questions as well as those answering questions. This list is updated as mechanics change, including new strategies as they arise and retiring old strategies that have been left in the dust. You can help me maintain the list by sending me new guides and notifying me when old guides are no longer relevant!

If you have any useful resources not currently in the tactician's library, please share them with me and I'll add them! You can message me or mention my username in a comment by typing /u/Kloiper

Calling all imperial councillors! Many of our linked guides pre-Dharma (1.26) are missing strategy regarding mission trees. Any help in putting together updated guides is greatly appreciated! Further, if you're answering a question in this thread, chances are you've used the EU4 wiki and know how valuable a resource it can be. When you answer a question, consider checking whether the wiki has that information where you would expect to find it, and adding to the wiki if it does not. In fact, anybody can help contribute to the wiki - a good starting point is the work needed page. Before editing the wiki, please read the style guidelines for posting.

The HRE has become fort hell and I am loving it!

    Posted: 07 Feb 2022 11:12 PM PST

So the last live version kinda messed up and has AI that destroys forts it absolutely should not be destroying all the time. The beta is the opposite and the HRE has become fort hell... And that's amazing! You now have to consider your wars very carefully as even a seemingly insignificant conquest can cost you tens of thousands in attrition.

Historically, one of the reasons the HRE ended up as decentralized as it did was that every Tom, Dick and Harriet had their own castle, each of which had to be sieged down whenever the occupants got rebellious and refused to pay their taxes. The Emperor naturally couldn't afford this and the juice often wasn't worth the squeeze, and so Germany evolved to be this frustrating network of fortifications of various sizes. I'm so glad that the AI is now maintaining and building new forts; it definitely changes the landscape of the game and makes the game more immersive. Great job, dev team! Hope this makes it to the live version as it is.

P.S.: Quantity ideas are even more helpful now as well. ;)

Is there a game similar to EU4 or Hearts of Iron but taking place now?

    Posted: 07 Feb 2022 06:30 PM PST

I love EU4. I have over 1000 hours logged. HOI is good too but I like EU4 more. I am looking for a similar game. A global conquest type of game but one where it takes place now, like 2000's. I am struggling to find a good one. Anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks!!!

When Would I Release A Nation In A Peace Deal?

    Posted: 07 Feb 2022 04:11 PM PST

I've been doing wars for a while now and the only thing I ever get out of the peace deal is just land and money. I always knew you could release a nation in a peace deal but I never payed much attention to it. Is there ever a situation where I would release a nation in a peace deal? Thank you in advance for your answers!

What happens when you become Christian as the Emperor of China?

    Posted: 08 Feb 2022 05:37 AM PST

Hello. I'm playing as Japan, I claimed the Mandate and I started wondering if I can go Christian now. I mean, on the wiki I can find that " Any non-subject nation belonging to either the pagan or eastern religion groups can claim the Mandate", but I've already claimed it, so what happens? Does it get destroyed when I convert? Or do I keep it? Anything like that?

EDIT: If noone's going to answer, I'll give an answer in a few hours probably.
