There should be an ability for the AI to ask us to prepare for war, or for us to tell them we will only come in for land.

    Posted: 04 Jul 2021 07:41 AM PDT

Me: Just ended a war, has loans, negative manpower.

AI ally: Hey you aren't doing anything are you? Want to come in this big war with me?

Me: Alt-F4s, tells them I'm not joining offensive wars.

AFAIK even if the AI ally is in a war, they won't be called in for favors but can be promised land. We can also ask them to prepare for war to give them +20 reasons. It would be nice if the AI ally could tell you they plan on an offensive war in say six months to a year.

What happens if a war can't progress? France can't make any more gains but won't accept peace?

    Posted: 04 Jul 2021 09:12 AM PDT

    Hi all,

In my current game as England I just got invaded by France, and they managed to siege down Calais with a 50k army in 1520 (Fuck France btw), and there's pretty much nothing I can do to take it back.

Problem is, their navy has been destroyed, so there's no way for them to make any further gains. They can't invade my mainland.

However, if I try to offer them Calais as a peace treaty, they refuse. They won't accept any peace that doesn't require me to split up all my territory and release about 5 different Irish minors. Of course, I don't want to do that, but they literally won't accept peace if I don't.

So my question is, what happens now? They can't force me to make peace because they can't make any more gains, and I'm definitely not accepting peace on the terms they're asking for. Am I going to be at war with France until the end of the game, or does the AI eventually realise it can't make any gains and make more reasonable peace offers?

UPDATE: Their war enthusiasm drained overtime and they eventually accepted a peace I wanted. So, apparently it wasn't endless. Good to know.
