I finally did it! My first and probably also last World Conquest in eu4. I was about to give up when I lost hours of gameplay because of the 1.30.5 Patch, but after a few days off I finished it.

Missions Expanded Dev Diary 21.03.2021 The Counts Palatine and the Artillery of Ferrara

Hey Folks! I'm u/Stiopa866, the Lead Developer for Missions Expanded and today I will present the team's efforts on the Palatinate and Ferrara.

    Let us begin!

    The Counts of the Palatinate

As some of you may remember, in one of the latest Dev Diaries, I showcased new Missions for Rhenish Minor States. There were a few exceptions and among them - The Palatinate.

We felt that the Palatinate deserved a more unique tree than the rest, and so I got down to it, here it is:

    https://preview.redd.it/270omr5qjfo61.png?width=521&format=png&auto=webp&s=31f03d69607cdfc34fd1e1502560cf5760860c95

This mission tree includes many aspects of Palatinate - their dynastic situation (Wittelsbachs), their disjointed territories (Oberpfalz), and the prominent sources of income. The mission tree will also allow you to be on the forefront of the Reformation in Germany, as Palatinate certainly was in our timeline.

Let us begin with the rather short economic tree, which is based around the Palatinate wine region and the important mining industry in the surroundings of Amberg.

    https://preview.redd.it/jsq4z2qnkfo61.png?width=1002&format=png&auto=webp&s=db77d9cde0e8d008e636db17343e60879586f06f

Let us turn our eyes to the missions that present some conquest, shall we?Humiliate the Margraves is a mission based on the conflict between the Palatinate and the states to the south, that took part during the Mainz Diocesan Feud. (Battle of Seckenheim)On the other hand, Palatinate gets a mission about reconnecting their disjointed territories together, which then allows you to consolidate the Wittelsbach realms within the Holy Roman Empire.

Enough bloody conquests for now, let's take a look on the intellectual legacy, and by that I mean the emergence of renaissance and reformation in the Palatinate.

Now, let's take a look at the Bibliotheca Palatina mission.

    https://preview.redd.it/8esfmbcjnfo61.png?width=795&format=png&auto=webp&s=6299514050042efe460194bb43a204e94bc73237

What is the most interesting about the event though, is the event.

    https://preview.redd.it/v3u3768bofo61.png?width=604&format=png&auto=webp&s=5e4f3e866e8599f806ade901fb9098c622af5a83

I hope those missions will convince you to give other nations a try while forming Germany!

There's of course more missions that could be showcased, but I think this is already enough. Let's take a look at Ferrara now!

(And of course, numbers will be tweaked, since some of those are really favorable at the moment ;) )

    Fortress of Ferrara

Ciao ragazzi and welcome back to another Italian tree!

Today we are going to take a look at Ferrara, the house of the Este.

The House of Este's roots can be traced back to the late 12th century, when the head of the house was able to mediate in the conflicting relations between Federico I Hohenstaufen and Pope Alessandro III. He also managed to gain the lands on the vital border between the Papacy and the HRE. The head of the house was also awarded the title of Marchese as a reward for the huge efforts in mediation.

    https://preview.redd.it/iu9nbke3pfo61.png?width=2048&format=png&auto=webp&s=de0aed3ef50971596c5d17256658abfcf15a6a97

You will have missions about both of those relations, as well as the consecration of the cathedral of Santa Maria in Porto. (be sure to conquer Ravenna from Venice before!)

    https://preview.redd.it/pht1tpi4pfo61.png?width=395&format=png&auto=webp&s=a92ce76d5cc440e76b8e147e724bdb75891d6d0f

And, about Venice, did you know that thanks to Alfonso I, il Duca Artigliere, Ravenna was the first one to sink the Venetian ships with land artillery?

    https://preview.redd.it/1mmsgjf5pfo61.png?width=396&format=png&auto=webp&s=6165baf3037e342324ddddbb737095263f4bf59e

Naturally, this event will be available only if you have Trade Goods Expanded enabled.

So remember, the entire family gives the full experience ;)

And remember, once you have finally risen above your 3 highest enemies, the Doge of Venice, the Horse Lords of Gonzaga and the Menace from Milan, your path will be clear, and your experiences will allow you to dominate Italy.

    https://preview.redd.it/38mjw668pfo61.png?width=412&format=png&auto=webp&s=925e204004d7b16180bc7a834bb48bad57276c95

As always, I expect all criticism to try and balance the two mission of Duca Artigliere and Granata, so let me know about it ^^

    Events for culture conversions.

    Posted: 21 Mar 2021 01:57 PM PDT

I think EU4 doesn't depict culture conversion very well.

Culture converting provinces meant persecuting speaking the language or owning books and threatening the livelihood of it's inhabitants through economic measures, raids or straight up genocide. It is a vile process and depicting it as some guy giving out dove bucks for a couple of years doesn't do it justice.

There might be better ways to do that but I think events that fire when you're culture converting depicting it's process is probably the most straight forward way of doing it.

I thought I was a country this morning.

I've been playing a lot of EU4 lately.

When I woke up this morning, I knew only 1 thing.
My heir was a 1/1/1 and I needed to disinherit his ass, so I quickly grabbed my phone to check what my prestige was. As you may expect, it did not have the answer I was looking for.
