Please check our previous Imperial Council thread for any questions left unanswered

Welcome to the Imperial Council of r/eu4, where your trusted and most knowledgeable advisors stand ready to help you in matters of state and conquest.

This thread is for any small questions that don't warrant their own post, or continued discussions for your next moves in your Ironman game. If you'd like to channel the wisdom and knowledge of the master tacticians of this subreddit, and more importantly not ruin your Ironman save, then you've found the right place!

Important: If you are asking about a specific situation in your game, please post screenshots of any relevant map modes (diplomatic, political, trade, etc) or interface tabs (economy, military, ideas, etc). Please also explain the situation as best you can. Alliances, army strength, ideas, tech etc. are all factors your advisors will need to know to give you the best possible answer.

    Tactician's Library:

Below is a list of resources that are helpful to players of all skill levels, meant to assist both those asking questions as well as those answering questions. This list is updated as mechanics change, including new strategies as they arise and retiring old strategies that have been left in the dust. You can help me maintain the list by sending me new guides and notifying me when old guides are no longer relevant!

Calling all imperial councillors! Many of our linked guides pre-Dharma (1.26) are missing strategy regarding mission trees. Any help in putting together updated guides is greatly appreciated! Further, if you're answering a question in this thread, chances are you've used the EU4 wiki and know how valuable a resource it can be. When you answer a question, consider checking whether the wiki has that information where you would expect to find it, and adding to the wiki if it does not. In fact, anybody can help contribute to the wiki - a good starting point is the work needed page. Before editing the wiki, please read the style guidelines for posting.

    Dynamic Tags

    Posted: 16 Nov 2020 05:30 AM PST

I´m not the first to suggest this, nor will I be the last, but I believe one the most important factors to add flavor to the game (or even a future EU5) would be the incorporation of Dynamic Tags.

A simple system like the one in HOI4 or Vicky 2 would be nice, with your country´s name and flag changing depending your dynasty (if it´s a well-known dynasty, it would be impossible to add flags for every one), government type and accepted cultures. Even better, you could be able to edit your own country name if you wanted so, and that would remove the hustle of programming dynamic names for each and every country in the game -suggested earlier.

An example of this could be for example when you play Trebizond and invade and conquer Georgia and embrace Georgian as an accepted culture (and one that is predominant throughout your realm). Your flag could change a little and be incorporated with bits of Georgian regalia. Then, you could also change your country name yourself to the Ponto-Georgian Kingdom.

The flag would also change if you then proclaimed yourself and empire, or a republic, and well changing the name it´s up to you. I believe changing the name of your country wouldn´t be that hard to implement, considering we have the Nation Creator, which lets you do it.

Just a suggestion that I believe everyone would like, roleplayers and blobbers alike.

Voting on HRE issues is absolutely meaningless, for both AI and player. Why is it even there?

    Posted: 16 Nov 2020 10:49 AM PST

In it's current state, voting on HRE issues, say Hansa League, or Burgundian Inheritance, is pointless. What's the point, when even if the overwhelming majority vote for an option, the emperor is likely just going to do whatever he wants and ignore everything? There won't even be a minor malus against those who voted otherwise. Maybe an imperial authority hit, but if the emperor is having a good game, even when they're in negative, the hit is pretty negligible. I will see, for no reason, the emperor pick the option that shoots itself, and other nations in the foot for absolutely no reason, even though everyone else voted for something else, and if the decision leads to a war it would easily win.

At the very least, could we just have some actual punishment if the Emperor just does whatever he feels like? Or just take the voting out, because right now, in it's current state, it doesn't mean a single thing, you can ignore every single issue with no worries at all.
