Missions Expanded Dev Diary 15.11.2020 The Return: Corsica

Hey various Eu4 and Mission Tree enthusiasts!

I'm u/Stiopa866, the Lead Dev of Missions Expanded, and in today's dev diary, as is usual, we will be going over new mission trees coming to the next update of Missions Expanded! Me (and my colleagues) have had quite a break, but we are now back in the saddle and ready to deliver new mission tree reworks to Europe. Without further ado, let us get into the higlight of today's Developer Diary: Corsica, which is presented by none other than Vic/elsa!

    Corsica

Hello, everyone. I'm Victoria/Elsa from the Missions Expanded team here to talk about one of the new trees coming in the Europe update - Corsica. Corsica is small and often overlooked. I hope that, with this tree, people will feel incentivized to try out this fun nation. As is the case with most releaseable nations, Corsica has a slow start. To make the early game more bearable, the first two missions "Seek Support from Abroad" and "Develop the Island" provide manpower and in latter's case, ducats so as to give Corsica a boost in catching up in gold and regiments.

    https://preview.redd.it/rf3pyeruvgz51.png?width=358&format=png&auto=webp&s=2cf1cdacd542317d51d72b26c1d2c7c271cab59d

Once they begin fighting their independence war, Corsica may also gain the upper hand with the "War for Independence" mission, which raises 5 galleys, one of which is a flagship, providing the Golden Century DLC is activated. All missions which require specific DLC have non DLC alternatives, so if one doesn't have Golden Century, the tree is still playable. Once independent and at peace, Corsica can either remain an oligarchic republic in the style of Genoa or transition into a powerful pirate republic!

The pirate republic is the centerpiece of Corsica's mission tree, and thus it is highly recommended that the player has Golden Century. From there Corsica will get claims on the islands of the Western Mediterranean, with conquests spanning from Sardinia through Sicily to the Baleares. If you are looking for a unique approach to forming Italy that will have you rolling in ducats, Corsica may just be the oddball pick you didn't know you needed!
