    A Note of Thanks

This is just a quick post to address something that I hadn't yet seen brought up and thought that it ought to be.

Most EU4 expansions have between 25 and 30 dev diaries between the expansions themselves and subsequent patches. For example, the Dharma expansion had 24 dev diaries, and the following Poland patch an additional 3. So far, the upcoming Emperor expansion has had 54 dev diaries, double that of Dharma (and more than twice as many as Golden Century + Manchu at 22 total), and they still have yet to confirm a release date for Emperor.

The EU4 team got a lot of shit from fans who felt that Golden Century was lackluster, not up to standards, or just a waste of money. They could've just shrugged their shoulders and rolled out another half-baked expansion and still made plenty of money off it, but instead they dug in and worked hard to take fans' advice and revamp many of the game's core components and biggest issues.

As a fan of another franchise that blantantly prioritises profit and frequent releases over game quality (looking at you, Pokemon SwSh), it's refreshing to see a game development team care so much about the players' enjoyment of their game, and I wish it was talked about more often.

To everyone on the Paradox EU4 team, I hope you get the thanks that you deserve for your hard work on the Emperor expansion.

PSA : Catholic Colonial Nations are hardcoded to not expand on their own, but other religions will

    Posted: 03 May 2020 08:12 AM PDT

Just discovered this thanks to someone on the paradox forums. All CNs that are of the catholic religion are passive and will not declare war to expand, even if they have claims on a primitive next door. They will only declare war if they are rivaling another CN.

See here, Catholic CN being neutral towards the primitive next door : https://forumcontent.paradoxplaza.com/public/560798/1588502963341.png

And after i changed them to protestant, they become hostile and want their provinces : https://forumcontent.paradoxplaza.com/public/560848/1588517486199.png

Changed them back to Catholic, and they became neutral again and am no longer interested in their provinces.

Anglican and Reformed CNs function normally as well, for some reason, only Catholic CNs become passive and become neutral towards anyone who isnt a rival.

No idea if this is a bug or a "feature", but the religion file doesnt contain anything that can do this so its hardcoded.

You know, smuggling is not allowed, even when the government is doing so.
