Posted: 07 Jan 2020 02:38 AM PST I have been playing for a long time but I never really used them. I have taken vassals for reconquest cb them annexed them after I got their votes back. I guess I never really thought about it. But recently I've been getting at least one good March early in every game and keeping him throughout the game. The thing is that yea you can call an ally into an offensive war... If he's close by.... If he doesn't like the other nations... If he's not in debt... If his manpower isn't low etc. A March doesn't need to meet all those conditions. If you go to war he goes to war. If he's below 25% of the size you are he gets the following bonuses. +25% National manpower modifier +30% Land force limit modifier +30% Naval force limit modifier +20% Fort defense -20% Fort maintenance +20% Manpower recovery speed -20% Land maintenance modifier -20% Naval maintenance modifier Those are incredible bonuses already and when you go to subject interactions you can "send officers" and get an additional +20% moral and +5 percent discipline. The only thing you lose is the ability to annex and they no longer pay a tax to you but what you get in return is a monster that will always go to war with you and will break his own nation in order to help you win any war. So my strategy for a good March is this. I like to find one outside of my culture and or where I don't plan to expand into. For example if you grab karaman super early before the ottomans do and make him a March and you're playing in Italy you aren't competing for land and his culture is Turkish so all of Anatolia is the right culture for him giving him full benefit of the land as you feed it to him. Also I like to look through their ideas and find someone with good military ideas to Stack with the bonuses they'll already get from being my March making him an absolute beast. Of course over the years I'll build trade buildings for them and add barracks and workshops and stuff so they can support bigger and bigger armies as well. How many of you are doing the same?
