The Imperial Council - /r/eu4 Weekly General Help Thread: December 9 2019 Posted: 09 Dec 2019 06:08 AM PST Please check our previous Imperial Council thread for any questions left unanswered
Welcome to the Imperial Council of r/eu4, where your trusted and most knowledgeable advisors stand ready to help you in matters of state and conquest. This thread is for any small questions that don't warrant their own post, or continued discussions for your next moves in your Ironman game. If you'd like to channel the wisdom and knowledge of the master tacticians of this subreddit, and more importantly not ruin your Ironman save, then you've found the right place! Important: If you are asking about a specific situation in your game, please post screenshots of any relevant map modes (diplomatic, political, trade, etc) or interface tabs (economy, military, ideas, etc). Please also explain the situation as best you can. Alliances, army strength, ideas, tech etc. are all factors your advisors will need to know to give you the best possible answer.
Tactician's Library:Below is a list of resources that are helpful to players of all skill levels. This list is updated as mechanics change, including new strategies as they arise and retiring old strategies that have been left in the dust. You can help me maintain the list by sending me new guides and notifying me when old guides are no longer relevant! Getting StartedNew Player Tutorials

If you have any useful resources not currently in the tactician's library, please share them with me and I'll add them! You can message me or mention my username in a comment by typing /u/Kloiper Calling all imperial councillors! Many of our linked guides pre-Dharma (1.26) are missing strategy regarding mission trees. Any help in putting together updated guides is greatly appreciated! Further, if you're answering a question in this thread, chances are you've used the EU4 wiki and know how valuable a resource it can be. When you answer a question, consider checking whether the wiki has that information where you would expect to find it, and adding to the wiki if it does not. In fact, anybody can help contribute to the wiki - a good starting point is the work needed page. Before editing the wiki, please read the style guidelines for posting. [link] [comments]
Culture should have more of an impact in warscore and war exhaustion calculations Posted: 09 Dec 2019 01:39 AM PST At the moment, the biggest problem with the game for me anyway is that there is almost no difference between 'home' land and 'international' land in terms of warfare. This means that you could be in a war against England and they will be just as affected as having some province in Africa sieged down as they would having Kent or Yorkshire. It also means that you get things like AI Spain really focused on walking around the North of Africa with its entire army while you siege down all of Spain because in it's mind there's no difference although visually it's a total immersion breaker. How the war calculations and AI would be greatly improved from both a gameplay and realism pov would be to bring in culture into the calculation. Depending on how 'important' the provinece is to your culture i.e. is it your main one? Promoted? in your culture group? etc the war score for losing it should be increased/decreased accordingly and the warscore for losing an important province should increase dramatically faster. This would also force players to focus defense more on their own home land which would mean building a few forts would actually be worth the effort even in for large empires. In fact, as larger empires gain more cultures and eventually become a cultural union it would actually make them more vulnerable and bring a little more balance against bloated empires that would have collapsed historically and add a little more challenge back gameplay wise. It would also add some warfare strategy for attacking to focus on key regions of the enemy empire rather than the present capital fort, fort, no fort checklist. This could also be the start of making culture an actual feature in the game as I still stand by the argument that culture could be removed and it would make almost zero impact at present. Posted: 09 Dec 2019 11:10 AM PST Here's a little chronicle of recent occurrences: Spain #2 world power, my ally, has been thousands of ducats in debt for over a century and hasn't been willing to join a single war for me. Ottomans are losing battles left, right, and center, while marching around with 50-stacks and sieging, gaining manpower. I full-occupied France about 4 years ago, knocking their military down to almost nothing. I diminished their country by about 20% and put them in debt. Spain, who hasn't been in any real war for the past 80 years, declared on weakened France, and now half the Iberian peninsula is occupied by France, the 8th world power. [link] [comments]
