The new update has flaws, but the new federation system isn’t one of them

    Posted: 07 May 2021 10:34 PM PDT

I really like how the federations work now. It adds a lot of flavor to natives in the early game, and gives them a way to develop without having to spend too many monarch points before the colonizers arrive. It also allows the tribes to integrate peacefully, so that war and using colonists to settle empty provinces aren't the only ways to expand. I actually enjoy playing natives now! Being able to easily build a 100+ dev capital before the colonizers arrive is pretty ridiculous though. That has to be toned down

Also, the federation system's being so important now adds a little flavor to mid-late game natives who reform (government reforms happen too fast, too). For example, I reformed the Iroquois into a merchant republic. Now, it took a LONG time before trade was actually useful to me, but starting a trade league and inviting other tribes to it kind of felt like a more modern continuation of the federation system. Another example is I reformed the Comanche into the steppe hoard of the Great Plains, and establishing other tribes as tributaries also kind of felt like a more modern variation of the federations, but with more of a fealty element.

    Make excommunicated CB actually work

    Posted: 08 May 2021 05:25 AM PDT

The excommunicated ruler CB is so broken and stupid ever since emperor. They need to make it more like the claim throne CB. If you declare war with the claim throne CB you can get the personal Union whether or not the CB should still apply for example if you declare war with it and then the country gets a strong heir it doesn't invalidate your CB because you've already declared war. The same should be for excommunicated ruler it makes no sense that a country can just pay for indulgence mid war and invalidate the CB.

With all the shit happening with the new patch I'll share a very fun and short campaign I recently had. And what's fun? It's conquering Ming as Manchu of coarse! Done in 40 years on patch 1.30.6 on Very Hard.

    The Ancient King of Brittany

Game running smooth 144fps, when army is selected i see drops to 2-3fps. No mods, current patch.

    Posted: 08 May 2021 07:22 AM PDT

Like in the title, first that was happening only in Americas, but now it's everywhere. Selecting ANY army drops fps to 2-3. It's totally unplayable. Does anyone have the same problem?

New Mission Tree for Japan + Flavor Universalis New Update: Sengoku Jidai OUT NOW!

New Mission Tree for Japan + Flavor Universalis New Update: Sengoku Jidai OUT NOW!

Greetings all! After the release of Leviathan I made sure to update the mod immediately, adding new monuments, mission trees, mechanics, art and compatibility with 1.31. Sadly the launch for Paradox was a disaster and it hindered our ability to enjoy the game. It's hard to believe it's only been less than 2 weeks since then!

Subscribe to the mod on STEAM

    Join the community on DISCORD

Today's Dev Diary announces the release of Flavor Universalis VI: Sengoku Jidai! Along with the new update, 5 new mission trees, over 50 new events, as well as 7 new monuments!

    Japan Main Tree
    Japan Conquest Complimentary Tree
    Japan Maritime Complimentary Tree

    Ashikaga

    Uesugi

    Yamana

    So

The previous Dev Diary went into the Daimyo and Shogunate Trees and today we will take a quick look at the new fresh Japan! As always the tree will interact with other mods such as Idea Groups Expanded, Advisors Expanded and Trade Goods Expanded (be aware that TGE will crash your game so I strongly advise you to avoid it until its creator updates it for 1.31!)

The main tree is full of flavor, conquest and development both internally in the island and outside of it. One of its really cool features is that it fully utilizes isolationism level and the outcome of the Shinto Incidents (if you are Shinto and have 'Mandate of Heaven') to grant different rewards based on YOUR choices!

Urbanization goes brrr ? Perhaps, it's up to you!

Ah yes, trade with the Europeans, that went so well for the natives :D

Now you, too, will have a BOOM STICK!

First off, the tree will allow you to pursue a Conquest Path, delving deep in the Asian continent with missions from China to Manchuria, Indochina and even India. Armed with new unique bonuses, mechanics and dozens of events the Conquest path will quench your blood-thirst and give way to the rise of Imperial Japan!

    Oh yes.

    A nice dynamic reward

Onwards to the Colonial Path, you will gain amazingly detailed new events, missions and unique bonuses such as access to the Naval Professionalism mechanic to make Japan the ruler of the 7 seas as you command the largest and most powerful fleet of the world, spearheaded by a multitude of colonial subjects!

Beyond the uniquely fresh idea of a dual path for Japan that compliment the base tree, the tag will enjoy a grand total of 42 new events, all drawn from historical sources! Here's a look at a few:

But wait! There's more! Japan will also have a unique disaster to go through during the age of Revolutions, provided it unites earlier than usual. The disaster is the 'Meiji Restoration' a time of great troubles that will undoubtedly shake the late game to its core. Its contents will not be revealed so as to keep you guessing and at high alert, however here's a peek at the ending event of the disaster:

Making the world's largest omelette here, Jack!

Last but not least, I have added 5 new monuments in Europe, 1 in Arabia and 1 in Japan! Take a look:

The famous Mosque housing the Black Rock, Islam's most pious site!

The famed Brandenburg Gate in Berlin

A Fortress that held back the Ottomans time and again

One of Napoleon's most beautiful arcs, in Paris

The arsenal of Venice, said to be able to produce a ship in a mere day

The Royal Castle of Warsaw which is actually a palace as well, apparently

Temple of the Golden Pavilion 'Kinkaku Ji' in Kyoto

Of course, this is but a minor fraction of the flavor held within this Japanese Tree, the rest is up to you to experience and enjoy. This update is the product of many hours of work by me and my esteemed new colleagues who recently joined the team, Nik and Close without whose help I would need to do more localisation and playtesting!

Enjoy the game, smile and have a wonderful day, I will see you next week to talk about the Basileus, take care!
