China is a constant throughout history, and this fact feels like it's missing from EU4 Posted: 16 Apr 2021 04:26 PM PDT I mean, think back to what happened to China the last game you played where Ming exploded. Did one of the new states eventually rise to the top, unifying China under a new dynasty? Did the Manchu swoop in, realizing a whole, complete Qing? No, of course not. In contrast to thousands of years of China recreating itself after civil wars or foreign conquest, China's death in EU4 is almost always permanent. It bugs me to no end. So, I'm here to propose a complete change to the mechanics of the Mingsplosion, in pursuit of the infinitely slim chance that some paradox employee will take a break from pouring milk all over EU4's multiplayer servers to read this post. ADDITION 1: WARLORDS Every Chinese state that pops out of Ming is considered a warlord, along with Ming, Qing, Yuan, Xizang, Meng, Jung and Thao (The last four are new, but I'll get to them later). Normally, the warlord classification means nothing. However, whenever two or more warlords own Chinese-cultured provinces, every warlord gets the following modifiers: -10 yearly legitimacy -10 yearly prestige -1 stability for every three years of peace +30 legitimacy for winning a war with another warlord +30 prestige for winning a war with another warlord Permanent cores on all Chinese-cultured provinces Cannot become tributary state Cannot make other warlord subject state -50% aggressive expansion when taking Chinese-cultured provinces Ability to take Mandate of Heaven in wars +1 stability for taking the Mandate of Heaven -5 yearly mandate (if EoC) +40 mandate for winning a war against another warlord After becoming the only warlord with Chinese-cultured provinces, these modifiers all stop, and the winning nation is rewarded with +1 stability, +50 mandate, and -4 national unrest yearly for 10 years. All of these modifiers force the little bits of China to constantly wage war until China is whole again. The mingsplosion is no longer China becoming a bunch of different countries, it's now a civil war. ADDITION 2: SYNTHESIZED STATES If any nation from the Tibetan, Altaic, Evenki, Korean, or South-East Asian culture group has more than 70% of their development in Chinese-cultured provinces, then an event will trigger where they can become a synthesized state. Like the Manchu becoming the Qing, a part-Manchu part-Chinese dynasty, these new nations will represent a fusion of the conquerers with China. Tibetan nations will become Xizang, Altaic nations will become Meng, Evenki nations will become Qing, Korean nations will become Jung, and South-East Asian naions will become Thao. All of these nations are warlords. They'd have their own national ideas and flags, but honestly I'm too lazy to come up with that right now. This concept is meant to represent the Yuan dynasty and the Qing dynasty, which were both conquerers of China that ended up becoming China. I also think it'd make non-Chinese non-Japanese games in East Asia finally interesting. I'd like to thank you for reading this far, and I'd love to hear your thoughts on my changes, if you have any. tl;dr Force mingsplosion countries to fight eachother, every other country is Qing. Hanseatic League's New Mission Tree - Flavor Universalis Developer Diary 17-4-2021! Posted: 17 Apr 2021 06:22 AM PDT Hey everyone welcome to another week's Dev Diary. If you wish to check out the mod, here's our Steam Page: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2372292648 And here's our Discord Community: https://discord.gg/Ee8pBPH3j7 A foreword from the creator of FU: Today we'll be taking a look at the new Lubeck tree arriving packed full of flavor with the upcoming Flavor Universalis update! Here's the full tree: When they go low - we go high! Starting off, as many of you know, I strive to give each tree a unique feature, something that distinguishes it from every other tree. In Lubeck's case, this is done by allowing the player to complete most missions via diplomacy. This is done to promote and encourage the player to try a new type of game instead of the usual map panting "Conquer Conquer Conquer". Diplomacy is a viable strategy for the majority of Flavor Universalis' Hanseatic Tree! Instead, each mission's reward impacts the members of your Trade League. This is done to give the player a cool new reason to not only maintain a Trade League but to actually attempt and grow it. But wait, there's more! Lubeck's tree is the first one to feature a (considerably larger) flavor branch compared to its conquest equivalent (15 expansion missions versus 22 flavor ones). Let's take a look at the overall tree! Starting off you'll have to raise the famous Young Men of Lubeck. Make no mistake, this isn't a 60s music band, it's the League's levy armed forces. Furthermore I've added indications for missions whose rewards are dynamic as you might have noticed at the top of that tooltip! The expansion missions will take you from securing your home state, to Pomerania, Prussia, Lund, Gotland and as far as Novgorod (should you choose to do so via violent means instead of diplomacy). Nobody likes Mecklenburg and that's a scientific fact. How to Fuck Over the Danes 101: Play Lubeck! The culmination of the expansion tree will result in a powerful modifier reward depending on your choice of War Minister (This reward takes into account Advisors Expanded!). Lubeck into Prussia will be POG! Onto the juicy stuff: The flavor branch will commence with the expansion of the "Old Town" as it's known, and push Lubeck towards "resurrecting" its glamour by copying Italian Bookkeeping techniques, re-establishing itself as a powerful naval force, administrating the Hansa and constructing a powerful flagship. This tree was made by someone who actually played Lubeck in 2021 That's a lot of fists in the icons, damn. A beautifully well-crafted poster child of the next update, the Lubeck experience will feature over 20 new Events both tied to the tree and free for you to explore. It features new artwork both in the icons and as event images! Tune in next week to talk about the mighty and formidable Teutonic Order! Until then, stay safe, hydrated and wear your masks! Can Revolutionary China be a thing? Posted: 17 Apr 2021 09:59 AM PDT I was looking through the wiki about the revolution, and there's a contradiction in the article about whether or not China can become a revolutionary nation. First, it says that in order to have a revolution, you cannot be the celestial empire. I don't understand why that's the case, but there it is. But later on, there are indications that it is indeed possible for China to become revolutionary. The Emperor of China has a unique event for the revolution, which is cool, but supposedly can't happen. It also should change the name of the country to "Revolutionary China" similar to how the Ottomans and Mughals change their names. Lastly, Shun, Qing, and Ming all have unique revolutionary flags, which is weird if they were never intended to go revolutionary. So what's the story with this? Is it possible, or not?
