At 3000 hours I'm learning to appreciate Fort Defense Posted: 12 Mar 2021 05:57 AM PST Logically. Fort Defense is kinda bad. Forts aren't amazing unless they stop enemy movement, and doing that to the AI is hard as they can just get access with some countries and walk past through your forts. So the best option would be to have improved siege ability and better armies in general to win battles and sieges fast and end the war fast. Except the AI isn't very logical. Unless they believe they can absolutely crush you, they'll avoid your armies and go for your forts. You can chase them, beat them and then siege, but you're losing time, manpower and money. This is way more efficient in the beginning than trying to win battles. So this stat I pretty much ignored in the first 3k hours is actually very important in the beginning to make early expansion more efficient. Of course, you don't need that if you're Ottomans as they just stomp everyone anyway. But learning this AI behavior and how to exploit it helped me immensely with harder starts. And it's actually the main way of beating the Ottomans as Byzantium or Castille as Granada right at the start. So yeah, don't ignore it. Use it to exploit the AI behavior and win wars you shouldn't win. And don't wait until 3k hours for that! [link] [comments] | ||
