Calling all imperial councillors! Many of our linked guides pre-Dharma (1.26) are missing strategy regarding mission trees. Any help in putting together updated guides is greatly appreciated! Further, if you're answering a question in this thread, chances are you've used the EU4 wiki and know how valuable a resource it can be. When you answer a question, consider checking whether the wiki has that information where you would expect to find it, and adding to the wiki if it does not. EU4 Youtuber Ludi et Historia Accused of Plagiarism

    Posted: 01 Mar 2021 01:06 PM PST

I'm wondering what the rest of the community thinks about the allegations leveled by AlzaboHD against Ludi. In Alzabo's most recent video he claims that a significant portion of Ludi's content is ripped from more popular creators such as himself and Radio Res. The content certainly seems very similar, but I'm not sure whether the similarities are simply because there is only so many topics that could be made about EU4.

Curious as to what other members of the community think of the situation. I, like many others I assume, subscribed to Ludi recently and have been impressed by the sheer amount of content he has been able to release in a short time. Hopefully this is a misunderstanding, since Ludi seems to release plenty of original content besides these seemingly plagiarized videos.

How to get Grand Coalition Achievement in under 20 years

The Grand Coalition achievement alludes many players for several reasons. The first is that the AI is normally very cautious about AE, at least until the Age of Revolutions. They simply will not take land that puts them over 50 AE if given the choice. The only countries I've seen trigger coalitions naturally more than once are Poland attacking the Teutonic Order (pre-Danzig event) and Ayutthaya attacking Lan Xang. The second reason is that by default the game does not give you a pop up message when a country joins a coalition against another country. This alert is set to only appear when someone coalitions you, but you can go into the message settings and change this. So what happens is a coalition can form and you won't realize it until a bunch of countries start asking you for military access. The third reason is mostly anecdotal, but it seems like if the AI does go over 50 AE with different countries, they will make sure they don't go over 50 AE with the player.

So how do you get this achievement? Well, its actually fairly simple. AE is primarily based around religion and culture, so obviously we are going to the biggest culture group and with lots of country in the same religion in the game, the HRE. We will also be playing as everybody's favorite country: Brandenburg. It is important to use the coalition map mode to quickly check your AE and Luneburg's AE.

Step 1: Estates, Allys, and Advisors. With your diplomats send one to build spy network on Luneburg and the other to ally Austria. Develop Berlin until you have 30% crownland. Sell crownland. Take the loyalty and advisor cost privileges with each estate. Build infantry in a single province until you have no manpower. Take the estate agenda from the Nobility, it should be to have 50% manpower. Cancel all your troops you are building and you should go back to 9,000 manpower. Unpause and let a day pass. You can now hire an admin advisor, a diplo advisor, and a half priced mil advisor. Turn off your fort and set army maintenance to 0. We need to stockpile money because if we go bankrupt this strategy won't work. Use your diplomats to find more allies. You want some combination of Austria, Bohemia, Poland, or Denmark. Don't go over the relationship limit though.

Step 2: Developing your provinces. Spend all your monarch points doing development on these 5 provinces: Altmark, Prignitz, Brandenburg, Potsdam, Berlin. Its better to develop all of them several times then 1 of them a lot of times because you will spend fewer points. The more developed the province the more AE for taking it. We develop these provinces because only Brandenburg has a core on them. The advisors help us get monarch points faster to develop with.

Step 3: War with Luneburg. Once your spy network is almost at around 20, turn on army maintenance, turn on your fort, and build 3 troops. You should have 12 troops which is normally enough to win this war. Fabricate a claim on Luneburg's capital. Luneburg normally only has 1 or 2 small allies. The plan for this war is to stackwipe all enemy armies, (use your ruler and heir for free generals to split up your forces) carpet siege the enemy to prevent them from building more troops and then siege down the forts. Separate peace Luneburg's allies for Annul alliance with Luneburg, war reps, and max cash. When you have 100% war score with Luneburg, pause the game and go to offer tribute. (Make sure you have used all remaining monarch points on development at this point) Because you have 100% war score Luneburg has to accept whatever peace deal you send them even if you are surrendering. So cede Altmark, Prignitz, Brandenburg, Potsdam, and Berlin to them. If you hover over the coalition symbol they should get around 77 AE with most of the countries in the HRE. Send the peace offer. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART; without unpausing click on each of your former provinces and revoke core. The province should now show that no country has a core on any of those provinces. (Claims are fine) At this point you can fire your advisors.

Step 4: The trucebreak. Luneburg should now have a massive amount of AE, they took 5 developed Catholic German provinces in the HRE. They should get attacked by a coalition within a year. (they will have no allies) The important part here is that when the coalition attempts to peace out Luneburg they will only be able to demand war reparations and money. They can't force Luneburg to return the core provinces to you since you no longer have cores on them. What this does is it prevents Luneburg from lowering their AE. Meanwhile your army should be decreased to within forcelimit (8 normally) and sitting at zero maintenance in Ruppin. Luneburg may get coalitioned twice but it doesn't matter because they can only give money and war reparations. Check Luneburg's truces. They should have truces with the coalition ending anywhere between 1457 and 1460. Your truce however should last until around 1464. So, what you want to do is once Luneburg is at peace and (normally) has no army (raise your army maintenance just in case) is truce break and declare war using your claim on their capital. Put 1 troop on each of their provinces, (including forts) siege the provinces without forts, wait about 3 months and sign a white peace. Ideally your new truce should end about a month before Luneburg's truce with their coalition ends. A lot of HRE countries should still have above 50 AE with Luneburg at this point.

Step 5: Your coalition(s). Well, you broke a truce in the HRE. You should now have about 100 AE with pretty much every Catholic in Europe. Keep a diplomat free, set your army to low maintenance and wait in Ruppin. When the coalition declares war immediately pause and surrender using suggest offer in offer tribute. They will normally make you give Stettin their core and pay money and war reparations. They can't full annex you though. If you get a separate coalition just surrender immediately again. Hopefully you have built up a decent treasury and can handle losing this much money. It doesn't matter if you take loans or debase currency. The main thing is you don't want to go bankrupt. Get your stability up too if it is low (Has to be at least -2 to declare war). You should have a ton of revanchism though preventing rebels from spawning.

Step 6: The Second Coalition. Wait until your truce is over. Then wait for Luneburg's coalition truce to be over. Luneburg should still have a lot of AE and may even be bankrupt. Once you see at least 5 nations coalition Luneburg this is your opportunity. Join the coalition. You should then get a pop up telling you that you have gained the coalition CB against Luneburg. When you get this and have a coalition of at least 6 countries including yourself, you will get the Achievement. You don't even need to declare the war.

    Special Cases:

    - Apparently, Austria can demand unlawful territory in the HRE even if no one has a core on the province. When this happens Luneburg will cede one province to Austria. Don't worry though, this doesn't decrease Luneburg's AE and Austria can only do this once. This only matters because you may need to get military access through them before you truce break.

    - Sale of Neumark. If Teutonic Order offers to give you the 2 provinces you should accept. You should easily have 100 ducats to spare and you can return the core in the peace treaty with your coalition instead of giving more money.

    - Ansbach PU. Sometimes you can get a PU on Ansbach. Take this anyways as you can cancel it in your peace treaty with the coalition.

    - Sometimes you can randomly gain a core on one of your former provinces. I have no idea how this happens, make sure you revoke the core so that Luneburg can't return it when they get coalitioned.

    - If Luneburg manages to get a PU, get PU'd, or acquires a subject of some kind; you must RESTART. Cancelling a subject in a peace treaty will lower their AE too much. The point of the strategy is that Luneburg can't lower their AE below 50 before their truce with the coalition is over.

    - If you get war declared on you with a non coalition CB, RESTART. You should be able to keep at least one of your alliances after the truce break and hopefully have a truce with all your neighbors.

    - Don't join the second coalition too quickly, it may fire when there are fewer than 6 people.

    - If Luneburg coalitions you, you have messed up the truce timing with your coalition and your white peace with Luneburg. You must RESTART in this scenario.

    - If you go bankrupt you can't declare war. RESTART

TLDR: 100% war score against Luneburg as Brandenburg, cede 5 developed provinces, revoke cores without unpausing after peacing out. Luneburg will get a coalition but won't be able to return any land so they will just peace out for money and war reps. This prevents their AE from going down. Truce break Luneburg and white peace to reset truce timer. Surrender immediately to your coalition(s). Join coalition when Luneburg gets coalitioned again.
