AI Austria owns all of France and the British Isles, and a good chunk of the New World. Is this what playing outside of Europe is like?

    Lesser known excommunication mechanic!

The excommunication CB war goal changes dramatically. Here is an example of the two versions of the excommunication CB.

    Normal Excommunication

    Super excommunication

    Can you spot the difference?

The normal excommunication war goal only gives you border provinces, but the super excommunication war goal gives you "All Provinces in our Culture Group".

The eu4 wiki does not mention the "All provinces in our Culture Group" version.

I am not 100% sure why this happens so if anyone finds out it would be great knowledge to have. I suspect it has to do with your government rank, where you only get super excommunication as an empire.

EDIT: It has nothing to do with government rank, the mystery goes on.

EDIT2: Solved, it switches the wording if you have 5+ claims on the target country. It does not change the cost for any provinces outside those claims, even if they have the same culture group.

    New Alliance Options for Leviathan

Looking at these new options, it seems that alliances are going to be much more useful in the new DLC, including options such as returning core provinces. The feature that really caught my eye was the request relative as heir button, which seems like it will be revolutionary for the PU game. Trading favors for soldiers/sailors/ducats is also interesting but doesn't seem like a very efficient use of favors, depending on how effective the "Curry Favors" diplomat interaction is.

How do they choose the Emperor after a League War?

So, I'm playing as Prussia, I'm the leader of the Protestant League, my armies have killed Austrians and Spaniards from the drylands of La Mancha to the steppes of Saratov, I have finally won the war getting some territory and forcing Religious Supremacy.

I'm the league leader and the only protestant Elector left in the Empire, so when the war ends the new Elector is...

Thuringia! Thuringia then chooses its friends as new Electors and I'm left with my dick in my hand. How is the Emperor chosen post-protestant victory and how can I be the Emperor?
