Banning countries in MP is cringe Posted: 29 Jan 2021 06:51 AM PST Every random MP you see rules like "Bohemia, Hungary, Burgundy, Lithuania, Aragon, Novgorod, Venice banned", etc. But while it seeks to "balance" the game by banning "troll" or "meme" nations, it actually shortens the game's lifespan and makes it so the same 3 countries (france, austria, and ottomans or mamluks) become superpowers in Europe each game, then if 1 of them dies or leaves the game pretty much gets called there. Without those countries banned, you have a chance at different alliance blocks forming, different countries becoming the powerhouse, and the game not dying because of 1 player. If austria loses a war early and leaves, you have a hungary to become the powerhouse of the region instead of the game dying due to one major leaving, same with france and burgundy, etc. Some people argue that Austria is useless without its PUs, uh no it's not, it still has one of the highest max manpower and FL in the game, and it can easily still kill Bohemia/Hungary early on and snake their gold mines, actually fighting for it instead of getting a free PU. Also banning Burgundy is easily the dumbest decision by far, with no player burgundy you basically have 200-300 free dev going to whoever the AI picks in an event. In real lobbies like Zlewikk, absoluteHabibi, JustBlazin, MJL, etc. you see none of these countries banned and the game still goes just fine. yes sometimes france or austria dies early, but that's ok because without the banned nations you don't need those 2 countries to maintain the balance of power. I know that random lobbies suck and most good players don't play in them anyway, but not having such stupid rules is one of the first steps they can take to improve. [link] [comments] | ||
