I think this subreddit has given me a very wrong idea on how easy it is to get the Burgundian Inheritance.

    Posted: 01 Dec 2020 12:35 PM PST

Basically just skim the front page on any given day and it's "hey I got the BI with XXX"! and you see a picture of a full BI with all the subjects in 1462.

Well, I've hit 100 games, with France, in 1.30. I've never had the BI. Every game is a mix of the following:

    • Burgundy is your rival. Or a friend of Austria. So even if Charles dies heirless, nothing will go to you. Good thing is it's easy to see right from the start.

    • So many heirs. Apparently Charles has a malus to getting a heir. I say apparently because the main cause of my failed BI runs is Charles getting a fucking heir. Talented daughter, random 20yo heir with weak claim, you name it, in 8 out of 10 runs Charles will have an heir.

    • Suicidal tendencies. Yes, it's Charles the Bold. Which means almost every game he'll go on a suicide war against Liege and half the HRE, and lose at best all of its vassals. Which would be a bummer if the inheritance actually happens, but it doesn't.

So, yeah. Hear my lament and realize that this subreddit is all about subverting your expectations by making the extraordinary seem mundane :)

Why does the “administrative” ideas group have 3 ideas dedicated to mercenaries?

    Posted: 01 Dec 2020 03:44 AM PST

This idea set seems made for countries that are huge and need the core cost reduction + gov cap increase in order to keep expanding.

Yet there are 3 ideas for improving mercenaries, even though countries that would like the admin benefits don't really use mercenaries.

And the countries that use mercenaries would probably never even get near their gov cap.

So either way you're going to get suboptimal ideas. Am I missing something here or is this idea group near useless?

Going Bankrupt Should Remove Age Bonuses

    Posted: 01 Dec 2020 11:31 AM PST

    Exactly the title.

I'm tired of seeing a bankrupt Ottomans able to fight off the Mamluks, simply because they can siege stuff down in 40 days since they're both lucky AND have the Guns of Urban. When a country goes bankrupt, they should lose their age bonuses (still be able to pick them again, maybe?) and possibly also their lucky status.
