Guide: How to create the strongest Crusader State in 20 (or less) years! Posted: 11 Dec 2020 11:27 AM PST Hey all! With the help of a great EU4 streamer I have come across a cursed/potentially busted 1444 start strategy (and hopefully one that is not super well known already!) and figured I would give you all a quick walk through in case anyone is interested in trying it out! A quick disclaimer, the screen shots I took were in a single player game without Ironman so I could quickly compile screen shots to walk you guys through the process. But I can confirm this is 100% Ironman capable, and doable within 20 years game time. How to turn The Mamluks into the strongest Crusader State known to man So this idea was passed on me from a Twitch streamer who goes by dum_idiet with the goal of giving The Mamluks a better and more robust mission tree, since lets face it, their mission tree is ass. Here's the break down. Step 1.) Vassalize Cyprus: Drop your guarantee on Cyprus and fabricate a claim, declare as soon as you can (might be worth the stab hit but I just waited the truce out in Ironman) end result should be vassalization (Note: you must vassalize them from the sue for peace screen, Cyprus CANNOT be released as a vassal since the nations primary (Francien) culture is not the same as the culture on Cyprus (Greek)) Improve relations continuously and get them loyal enough to use subject interactions with them. Step 2.) Grant Cyprus the province Jaffa through subject interaction and then convert the province to Catholic: Converting a subjects province is possible as an overlord, you will convert to their state religion, so even if you're Sunni, you will convert the land to Catholic. Look for an Inquisitor to help the conversion process. Once converted seize the province back and leave it un-cored. Fire your inquisitor and begin converting again, it will be helpful to lower autonomy to have rebels fire faster. Keep converting until Catholic rebels spawn. Step 3.) Allow rebels to siege provinces: Drop maintenance on forts, put subjects on passive and park your army in Al Quds (reason to this to come later). This might take some time but be sure to check the Stab and Exp tab to accept rebel demands ASAP. Forcing your state religion to Catholic. Step 4a.) Core Jaffa and Take the decision: Finally core Jaffa and take the decision to form Jerusalem Giving you access to a few things, downright better national ideas and DEUS VULT! in the middle of the world of Islam with the added bonus of a robust mission tree that The Mamluks severely lack. From here, maybe a one faith WC? Getting DEUS VULT this early is a HUGE head start and free CB's on over 50% of the world. Now this isn't the ONLY route you can take, to circle back to step 3, if you leave an army stationed in Al Quds it will remain Sunni, which is import for taking the second branch of this cursed nation. Step 4b.) Grant Catholic provinces to subjects: until Sunni is once again the dominant faith (you can check the religion tab for this info, once religious unity dips below 50% you unlock the decision to make Sunni the state religion. Why swap back to Sunni? Because it allows you to take the Mamlukean Government reform so long as Al Quds stays Sunni! Unlocking power government interactions, no Stab loss when rulers die, and giving you a mission tree that will give you claims on most of the Mediterranean! So there you have it /r/EU4 I hope you guys enjoy the crusading, if you have any questions or suggestions drop them in the comments! I plan on trying a One Faith WC with this soon, so check me out on Twitch at https://www.twitch.tv/iamcogs! [link] [comments] | ||
