Just a quick advice for Timurid-Mughals opening

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 07:35 AM PST

Probably you already know it but just in case:

It's really worth waiting even for a couple of years with forming Mughals and doing your Timurid missions.

Make sure to have the Timurid mission "Control West Khorasan" ready to click when you are about to form Mughals. It gives you -20% core creation cost for 15 years. Click it and form Mughals the same day. You will add it to your -25% CCC from Mughal national ideas and -25% CCC from your 2nd admin idea which you should of course take first. So you can start your Indian permanent claims conquest with -70% CCC for 15 years which is huge.

My first WC ever! and first artmap!

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 08:57 AM PST

My first WC ever! and first artmap!

    Full empire with subjects

    HRE and personal holdings

    Just Austria

R5: My first personal world conquest with costumized maps :-) on Ironman

I know this is dayly stuff but this is my first WC ever in paradox games!! and also my first map!!

It was boring and stressing a the same time, and I finally understood that badboy is only a number but overextension... not. I will never do it again, it was by far less enjoyable than any of my previous games.

But I was so proud I made this series of maps for my personal possesions, HRE subdits, and full extension empire.

Bit of the story: Took the easy way and played with Austria. Got really lucky and for SECOND time in my eu4 playthru I got a PU (magic Habsburg stuff) which replicated nonstop. 60 years and got PU over Hungary, Bohemia, Poland, Milan and Burgundy.

From there just focused on HRE internals trying to stop Heresy (and failed a lot) to form vassal swarm and once done... well... just boring.

I am liying a bit. Due the Portuguese colonial nations the WC needed to Revoke Privilegia, but I dislike the HRE map-painting.

Expect at least you like the maps! they were the most funny part!

EDIT: problem with pictures Edit2 seems I dont know how to insert a picture to be seen, shame on me

    Warfare needs more depth

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 04:33 AM PST

I´ve just played a game where the enemy Mamluks marched their 85k death stack across the fucking Arabian Desert to come kill me (Mushasa), instead of going through the more reasonable Syrian Frontier we shared.

Not only they didn´t lose any men while marching (cause of the massive manpower pool they had) but their army stayed with 100% morale and also ignore all my forts in the area.

The point I´m trying to make is that there should be some kind of supply system like in Victoria 2, where you can´t march your armies across a fucking desert without losing half of them. In addition to that, if you decide to go to war against a country whose terrain is difficult to traverse, the game should force you to prepare for loses like, yet again, in Vicky 2, where you can´t instantly recruit 10k soldiers. Instead, as you probably know, in Victoria you have a soldier pop amount, and can´t recruit more unless more soldiers sign up (I´m aware EU4 takes place in a different time period where standing armies were not a thing, but still a king could not levy 50k soldiers and mercenaries when it´s army is destroyed or suffers of attrition.

Another thing that should be improved on is the AI´S obsession with total war. The AI wont concede even though you have destroyed all their armies and burned their country to the ground, instead recruiting 50k mercenaries that are instantly willing to fight for a king that may very well not be able to pay them. On the other hand, when the player is the defender, the AI will take a fort, beat an army and demand you cede half your country, all your money and probably your soul. I know this would be hard to implement on a gameplay perspective, because a great amount of players just want to paint the world their color and total war is necessary for that kind of playstyle, though I would argue this could be implemented in a more subtle manner. The AI could be more willing to accept the loss of frontier region after some battles and occupations, and when the player is on the defensive and not totally defeated, the AI should demand reasonable things, like the dismantling of forts or ceding a frontier region. This goes hand in hand with the idea of supply lines mentioned earlier, for with this system the AI won´t mobilize the full of their forces (and risking losing them) unless is a big war.

This plus improving how peace deals work, meaning, stop preventing the player from annexing an OPM because it is allied to another fucking OPM half a continent away that refuses to surrender to your 40k army will surely improve the depth of warfare, being as we all know the main point of the game.

Thank you for coming to my TED talk, I´m just frustrated by the fact that this things have not yet been added even though they are in other paradox´s games.
