My verdict on the Humiliate Rival CB

My verdict on the Humiliate Rival CB

A lot of newer players make the mistake of discounting this CB, and its understandable. In many cases, it is. In strong starts such as France or Austria you would be better off just getting advisors for monarch points, and in weak starts such as Irish OPMs you need every it of land in the first few years. However, there is a sweet spot in your campaign if you pick a weak nation, 1550-1620, this is when I find that I'm a fairly powerful yet much weaker than my allies, and toe to toe with my rivals and their allies. This makes it ideal for farming monarch points as if estates never got changed.

This is also the time when most players will see that they are lagging on tech, as if your playing wide you have a lot of coring and if your playing tall your monarch points are likely spent on economic and quantity ideas. However, this will mean that you have fairly strong economy, not strong enough for high level advisors though. So during this time, you can consider a good candidate for a rival, rivaling everyone back is not feasible, so look for a nation who has an army around 30% weaker that yours, be sure that they have bad relations with your allies and are allied to some of your other rivals. It smooth after here. Attack that nation with the humiliate CB and separate peace their allies and humiliate them, however, it is crucial that you only annul alliances that are not your rivals. Then, show strength to the main target.

This will get you 100 monarch points which you can enjoy, but you can do this every 15 years only right? Wrong. Since you humiliated your other rival you have a shorted truce, so attacks them, drag in the allies, humiliate them and show strength to the main target. This way you can get a shit ton of monarch points, the only factor is your allies, if you have the cradle of civilization you can use favors(I don't have the DLC ) else you just wait till your allies are ready to join again. It is crucial that you do not take any cash or war reps, this will increase the truce which will make the strategy less effective.

So I would say use this CB if you can meeting the conditions, the utility is limited however. Wait until you are able to manage your finances well and can be good player diplomatically, and this will make you question why paradox even added the +1 monarch point from estates.

This is an ideal scenario, and if your wondering, yes, I am going for a tall Ulm-Swabia run.

    Thanks for your time.
