Proposed changes to the Emperor of China Posted: 10 Oct 2020 04:44 AM PDT The Dynasty ProblemIssue: One of the details in Eu4 that irks me the most is how the EoC does not have a fixed dynasty. Nothing bothers me more than sifting through the fogs of terra incognita to see that Ming is now ruled by some family from Japan or South East Asia or even India. The Dynasty of the EoC should be fixed. With the size of their families and a harem far larger than the Ottoman Sultans', they should never be in a position to be forced to adopt an outsider as heir. The EoC (and maybe even all the Chinese minors, as ruling princes, dukes, etc. would also possess harems of their own) should get a government reform that gives them a harem reform similar to the Ottomans that provides a constant supply of heirs, with an extremely rare event (maybe with an MTTH that could scale to mandate/legitimacy for the princedoms) that tells you your ruler has no more sons, and would have to adopt a relation at the cost of a mandate/legitimacy tank. The only incidence I can recall of an emperor being succeeded by someone of another family was Guo Wei (Founder Later Zhou during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period) succeeded by his nephew-in-law, whom he ADOPTED and had his surname changed. In any case, the dynasty ended a year after the latter's death. Proposed Solution: The EoC (and maybe even all the Chinese minors, as ruling princes, dukes, etc. would also possess harems of their own) should get a government reform that gives them a harem reform similar to the Ottomans that provides a constant supply of heirs, with a extremely rare event (maybe with an MTTH that could scale to mandate/legitimacy for the princedoms) that tells you your ruler has no more sons, and would have to adopt a relation at the cost of a mandate/legitimacy tank. --- The Peaceful Dynasty CoupIssue: While Oirat and Manchu may represent the nomad invasions that created the Yuan and Qing Dynasties, and the Chinese minors show the chaotic periods of the Three Kingdoms Period, and the Five Dynasties & Ten Kingdoms Period, not all dynastic changes in China occur due to decade-long wars. While often that is how power is consolidated and China united by each new dynasty, there are cases where simple palace coups led to a change in the ruling family/dynasty. Most prominently this was how the Song Dynasty was created: when a popular general was crowned by his officers and marched into the capital without a battle and nearly without bloodshed. Solution: Coups as such can be shown in-game in the form of a disaster akin to the current 'Nomad Frontier' and ended with an event similar to how revolutionary empires are formed. Monthly Progress Starts If: 1) Extremely low mandate (For example, under 10) 2) A regency Monthly Progress Increased By: 1) The amount of influence the most influential faction at court possess 2) How low the mandate is 3) Potentially: High meritocracy (To show how much more competent the officials of the empire is compared to its empire) The difficulty of fulfilling these conditions would mean this event would rarely actually occur. When the disaster fires, an event spawns that offers to replace the emperor and his dynasty with a bureaucrat, a general, or a regional governor with different mana focuses depending on which of the three EoC factions have the most influence (Admin, Mil, or Diplo), at the cost of high unrest and another tank in mandate (and mandate gain. This corresponds to when strong officials, powerful generals, and autonomous military governors supplant a weak emperor. A second option would allow the player to refuse the coup, and as a result, there would negative events: Maluses to tax, production, manpower of the whole country if the Admin faction was in charge (Grand Secretariat); Pretender rebels rising up if the Mil faction was in charge (Commanderies of the Five Armies); Rise in autonomy of one - three neighbouring areas and corresponding separatist rebels rising up if the Diplo faction was in charge (Offices of Maritime Trade) --- These are just my two cents on a couple of flavour improvements that could happen to China. I definitely welcome any suggestions or criticism, and really think these could potentially make a cool mod. [link] [comments]

Is there a mod that removes "Revolutionary" from revolutionary countries' names? Posted: 10 Oct 2020 05:41 AM PDT I mean regardless of whether it's revolutionary or not, the country's still fucking called France. When we talk about Napoleon f.e. we say that he was French emperor, not "ReVoLuTiOnArY FrEnCh Emperor". It looks so ugly when "Revolutionary" is written all over my beautiful big blue blob. Flag change is ok, I just can't stand the name. [link] [comments]
