Silly Idea to make China reunite more frequently Posted: 06 Jun 2020 09:22 AM PDT The Ming fall apart with some freuqency in EU4, but when they do, China almost never comes back together, this is my humble attempt to find a way to change that: When the EoC loses the mandate, Period of the X Kingdoms begins (X equal to the number of Chinese kingdoms on the map when the EoC loses the mandate). During this period, the EoC mechanic is disabled and replaced with the title of the claimant, which is given to the Chinese state (or Manchu, if the tag has been formed) with the highest development. Being the claimant gives bonuses to manpower and morale. Controlling the majority of the provinces in any part of China gives a bonus- controlling the Northern region of China near Beijing, Xi'an and Inner Mongolia gives +20% Calvary Combat Ability, controlling Manchuria gives +10% Discipline, controlling the Yangtze and Yellow river areas gives +20% Manpower Recovery, and controlling Southern China gives +25% Defensiveness. These bonuses last as long as the kingdom controls the majority of the provinces in the regions during the Period. Finally, during this period, the Chinese kingdoms are forbidden from making other Chinese nations their tributaries- they can only make alliances, and the penalty for breaking alliances with Chinese nations is removed. The Period ends only when one Chinese kingdom controls 85% of the development in the China super-region, then the current claimant is given the mandate of heaven and becomes the EoC with 100 mandate. The point of this system is to end the endless cycle in most games after the Ming falls apart where no Chinese kingdom is ever able to become the emperor over all of China again for very long. This way, if say the Shun are very strong, controlling most of Northern and Central China, it will get bonuses to its total manpower, morale, cavalry combat ability, and manpower recovery, and as it is not yet the EoC, the AI will not have the option to be incompetent and tank its mandate while it is still too weak. This way, China should be much more united much more frequently, as it was in historical times. The famous three kingdoms period only lasted 60 years after all. Only in the warring states period, nearly two millennia before the eu4 period and in a time with far less "ADM tech" essentially, was the core of China ever substantially disunited for a centuries-scale period of time. Anyone else not enjoy HOI4 after playing EU4? Posted: 06 Jun 2020 09:42 AM PDT I realize this post might be slightly off-topic, but I wanted to post it here to specifically get the prospective of EU4 and EU4/HOI4 crossover players. When HOI4 went on sale last month, I eagerly bought it as EU4 is my favorite game - hands down. I figured that anything Paradox makes, especially with the Clausewitz engine, would be a home run for me, so to speak. That said, I found HOI4 to be way too fiddly and not very much fun. I'm having a hard time putting my finger on exactly why though - has anyone had a similar experience or maybe loves both games and can tell me what I'm missing? [link] [comments] |
