Persia should have a mechanic to encourage its unification

    Posted: 02 Mar 2020 10:58 PM PST

The Persian highlands have been united under one flag or another for the majority of history once. Persian is also one of only a handful of cultures that's managed to consistently "bring into the fold" its conquerors when it did fall through Persification, in much the same way China has through Sinicization.

In game, Persia is a mess. The actual tag of Persia almost never forms, and the only tag that ever seems to actually unite the region is Timmy when they inevitably don't implode. Pretty frequently I either see Timmy forming mega-Mughals or a handful of minors blobbing a bit before getting hugboxed by alliances with a resurgent Delhi, Otto, or Arabian blob.

I think some flavor in this area could help. For instance, giving AQ and Ardabil a unique CB or perhaps an event or mission once they conquer Tabriz or beat QQ for extremely lowered AE and CCR over the Persia region. Similarly, an outside invader could get an event for claims over the region/reduced AE/CCR for some period of time if they took key cities. As a trade off, Persia should be difficult to hold as a non-Persian in much the same way EoC kicks your ass if you don't accept Chinese cultures. I don't really think a mechanic like the EoC is justified, but something to replicate Persification could make the region a lot more dynamic.

Thoughts? Ideas? I love the history and culture of Persia and its a shame to see AI Persia be maybe the biggest consistent historical disappointment after Mughals.
