When you should always assault forts

    Posted: 16 Sep 2021 02:18 AM PDT

Another pro-gamer move it took me +1k hours to figure out,

Once the enemy captures a fort, it's garrison will be really small. Always breach and assault here, you will capture it back instantly. (This is a trick the AI generally don't do, so they must again waste time trying to take it back etc.)

And I used this pro-gamer move to trap the Ottoman armies between the two forts in Venice.

Mini-pro-gamer move tip: fleets can barrage day 1, though you might struggle to have enough canons for level 3 capital forts.

It would be great to be able to convert certain terrain types at a great monetary expense, depending on the type.

There is an event as Holland about deswamping of Amsterdam that lowers dev cost significantly.

I would really welcome a possibility to convert marshland into farmlands for example as a 10-20 year great project for say 300 ducats. At 150 ducats and some manpower and 5 years of deforesting you can convert forest/woods into farmlands.

This would unlock some tall gameplays in areas that aren't necessarily Bavaria/North Italy/Holland/Northern China. In theory you could de-swamp Florida and make it a 6-8 province uber tall naval Brittany type of thing. Or you could decide to deforest entirety of Finland and dominate Baltic trade while heavily siphoning trade from Russia.

This could work in reverse direction too. Hordes could have the ability of turning farmlands into grasslands, if pillaging capital, razing a province, exploiting development and centralizing it didn't bring enough destruction. Want to make your flat open heartland a bit more harsh? Or maybe you wish that sweet chokepoint you have wasn't a farmland because you'd like a fort there? Plant trees at 200 ducats and after 30 years the project finishes with woods for that extra defensive bonus and more attrition to the enemy.

    What do you think?
