Please give us the ability to exchange land diplomatically! Posted: 03 Dec 2020 05:54 AM PST Add an ability to trade favours for land, or to promise your own land (instead of the enemy's) in exchange for the ally's participation in a war. This would work like the "prepare for war" interaction, but you give up specific cities instead of favours. It would of course also work the other way around and you could demand some of your ally's land in exchange for joining an offensive war of theirs. They could also offer it spontaneously as part of the call to arms. Acceptance modifiers for making a land demand could include: - your military strenght relative to your ally - whether you have claims on your ally's land - relative worth of the provinces - whethet the land is part of one of your states - trust - diplo rep - goods produced in the lands being exchanged (the more valuable, the less they will be willing to give up the province) An ally will of course never give up their capital (or any land in their capital state for that matter). Colonial powers can give up colonial land (for increased liberty desire in said colony), or entire colonies. Signing a separate peace after being handed land to join the war will be extra disgraceful and incur major diplomatic penalties, besides shattering your ally's trust in you. Any other nations will also think twice about giving you their land for a long time. [link] [comments]

renting out condottieri for free should not be allowed. Posted: 03 Dec 2020 12:32 PM PST I'm getting really tired of easy wars against weaker foes turning into a death struggle because my 5 rivals rented out their armies to my enemy for free. There is no functional difference between free condottieri and an alliance or guarantee except for condottieri not taking a relationship slot. It allows the AI access to a much larger pool of soldiers than it would normally for no downside. Especially when you consider the AI rarely offers you any condottieri. If you could request condottieri or maybe if the AI offered it to you at the same frequency it offers it to other AI it would be tolerable at least. Edit: One thing i forgot to add is condottieri dont share military access so they can hide in provinces you cant chase them to and recover from a battle without any repercussions [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Dec 2020 07:33 AM PST Been playing a Scotland to United Kingdom game lately. Disappointed as to the lack of events surrounding the Union of the Crowns. England and Scotland entered the "Treaty of Perpetual Peace" in 1502 and Henry VII married his daughter to James IV. The treaty was broken shortly after when England declared war on France and Scotland was compelled to aid its more reliable ally (definitely an understandable problem well replicated in EU4). But the marriage was fruitful and with the death of the childless Elizabeth in 1603, James VI inherited the English throne. He immediately tried to from the Kingdom of Great Britain, but both Parliaments rejected this, and this wasn't achieved until the Acts of Union in 1707. This is one of the most well known examples of a personal union of two kingdoms, and I'm not sure why it wasn't included in Rule Britannia. Really all that is needed is an event offering a royal marriage with the other if one doesn't have a consort and England is Tudor. Additional flavor could include the reigns of "Bloody" Mary Tudor, Elizabeth I, and Mary, Queen of Scots, a Gunpowder Plot event (either the plotters are discovered or the ruler is killed and London takes devastation), and conflicts between Anglicanism, Catholicism, and Puritanism (Reformed) and their respective factions in Parliament leading into the English Civil War.
