Please check our previous Imperial Council thread for any questions left unanswered

Welcome to the Imperial Council of r/eu4, where your trusted and most knowledgeable advisors stand ready to help you in matters of state and conquest.

This thread is for any small questions that don't warrant their own post, or continued discussions for your next moves in your Ironman game. If you'd like to channel the wisdom and knowledge of the master tacticians of this subreddit, and more importantly not ruin your Ironman save, then you've found the right place!

Important: If you are asking about a specific situation in your game, please post screenshots of any relevant map modes (diplomatic, political, trade, etc) or interface tabs (economy, military, ideas, etc). Please also explain the situation as best you can. Alliances, army strength, ideas, tech etc. are all factors your advisors will need to know to give you the best possible answer.

Calling all imperial councillors! Many of our linked guides pre-Dharma (1.26) are missing strategy regarding mission trees. Any help in putting together updated guides is greatly appreciated! Further, if you're answering a question in this thread, chances are you've used the EU4 wiki and know how valuable a resource it can be. When you answer a question, consider checking whether the wiki has that information where you would expect to find it, and adding to the wiki if it does not. In fact, anybody can help contribute to the wiki - a good starting point is the work needed page. Before editing the wiki, please read the style guidelines for posting.

Vajrayana religion is OP and great for One Faith

    Posted: 09 Nov 2020 10:10 AM PST

    No. It's not a joke.

tl;dr One Faith with Vajrayana Tibet is easy. And I am doing it right now.

    Long post begins here.

Almost every "EU4 Religion Tier List" says Vajrayana is mediocre. Let me think...

What exactly do you need for a successful One Faith campaign in EU4?

One: Good military to quickly conquer the world. Two: Good missionary strength to quickly convert the world. Three: Stable and prosperous country that will not be ruined by unrest and can afford constant conquest.

So let me present the Monastic Order of Nepalese Tibet. A country so perfect that I just couldn't believe when I was doing some math before starting this run.

    So here it comes.

Start as Limbouwan. Do a quick and easy conquest to become Nepal. Do a quick and medium-easy conquest to become Tibet. KEEP NEPALESE IDEAS! They are crucial for this run. Become a theocracy (Monastic Order) through an event. It is ABSOLUTELY essential for this run.

Take these idea groups in this order: Defensive, Religious, Diplomatic, Admin, Quality

Take these government reforms: Monastic Order, Internal Mission, Integration of the Sohei, Partial Secularization or Strenghten Religious Head (whichever suits you best), Open Public Elections, God and Man, One State Under God.

When taking Open Public Elections keep Militarists in power during the conquest phase and then switch to Theocrats to convert faster.

So what do you get with this setup?

Part 1 Good military to quickly conquer the world

Good: +45% Morale +17.5% Discipline +25% Infantry Combat Ability +10% Artillery Combat Ability +1 Yearly Army Tradition +48% Reinforce Speed +25% Land Force Limit +15% Recover Army Morale Speed +15% Manpower +35% Mercenary Manpower +10% Manpower Recovery Speed -15% Mercenary Maintenance +1 Leader Siege

Quickly: *-65% warscore (for provinces and vs other religions - and there are ONLY other religions) *Deus Vult to kill everybody around until the advanced CBs are ready at Tech 23 *very nice Tibetan mission tree with lots of free claims

Part 2 Good missionary strength to quickly convert the world

5 Missionaries +12.5% Missionary Strength if you hire an Inquisitor (you should always do) +2% additional Missionary Strength when you switch to Theocrats in power after the conquest phase As always +3% if you spam cathedrals (or whatever a buddhist cathedral is called).

Part 3 Stable and prosperous country that will not be ruined by unrest and can afford constant conquest

+6 Tolerance of the True Faith so convert and forget about ANY rebels

+unlimited cash when you simultanously conquer India and Ming before 1600

That's all. After some tests I am currently doing a proper Ironman run with the above setup (in the making). It's mid 1560s. I own all of northern and north-western India, most of central India, all of Yarkand and Chagatai. Ming is a joke that will take 110% WS to fully annex.

All of my provinces are Vajrayana of course and my 4 hungry missionaries are waiting for more and more land to convert (5th will be available later through a government reform). Money is no problem at all.

What do you guys think? Can I pull off a Vajrayana One Faith from here?

There should be a "Sue for peace or else I leave the war" diplomacy button when in a war with AI

    Posted: 08 Nov 2020 04:18 PM PST

So many times am I in a defensive war with AI, we're winning, but the greedy AI always wants more. In instances like these, when I know that this is far as we can go but would like to back out without the diplomatic penalty it gives, I'd like to tell the AI like: "Hey, could you peace out of this war, or else I'm going to and that might put you in a losing position." I'm not quite sure how one would balance this, but it seems like a feature this would make us feel a lot more comfortable joining defensive and offensive wars with an AI.
