The pope is now the best and most overpowered country to unify italy

    Posted: 24 Oct 2020 09:03 AM PDT

With the reworking of the catholic faith, the papal states are now in a position where they can completely disregard coalitions. Italy is an area with huge ae because of same religion, culture groups, and dev. So any country looking to unify this area asap will face a coalition from castile to Poland and from Italian minors to lubeck. But the papal states is now the sole country that doesnt need to worry. The addition of appointing cardinals is insane. You can add 50 relations per province that a country has that (i think) has over 10 dev. So this means that any big country can be instantly eliminated from the coalition for free(if you're papal controller). You only need to bring their relations up by appointing cardinals to +50 and they will instantly leave allowing u to either attack them or attack others without worry. On top of that once you acquire Italy you can weaken enemy catholic countries by declaring a kingdom of God. Do you guys agree with this assessment or is there a better country for either a sp or mp Italian campaign(for unifying faster or for continuing on with the rest of the campaign)

Help me win against my friend in Multiplayer?

    Posted: 24 Oct 2020 07:35 AM PDT

Dear distinguished members of this board,

i have around 800 hours of EU4. I play MP against a friend who has around 3000 and has a better grip on game mechanics than myself. He plays England or Castille most of the games. I tried every nation but i rarely win (winning means one of us rage quits). His weakness is - I guess - that he goes the colonial route altough games are done before this pays of. (He still beats me nonetheless :-( ) Most of the times i "play for myself" until my friend no-cbs me. Can you help me win against this evil man?

Which nation should I choose and what do I do?

Playing as a colonial subject on Ironman

    Posted: 24 Oct 2020 08:40 AM PDT

I would like to play as a colonial nation after I establish it in the new world, but without getting independence. Mainly for roleplay reasons.

I In subject tab you can only do it by releasing a colonial nation and playing as them, but this gives you independence from your colonial overlord. In normal game you can just switch tags, but i don't really like playing without Ironman.

Is there any way to do it?
