Holder of the title Emperor of China should automatically accept all cultures in the Chinese group

    Posted: 18 Aug 2020 03:48 AM PDT

the newest dev diary has sparked some heated debate amongst the Vietnamese players. the opposition towards this policy comes mostly from deep rooted nationalism (and maybe even anti-Chinese sentiment); but many including me also see an unfair advantage for Dai Viet over many other countries who have mission to claim the mandate. currently being the EoC has no effect with regards to culture acceptance. that means any foreign nation: with the aim to conquer all of China will suffer a lot in order to control China due to cultural difference - a very realistic ingame mechanic to simulate a realistic challenge all foreigners will have. all except Dai Viet, a nation/people the Chinese consider inferior. a Vietnamese Imperial Chinese dynasty should have suffered a lot of malus to control China, but with this upcoming change Dai Viet will suffer nothing. this is why i think it's unfair that Vietnamese is in Chinese group. i acknowledge the culture-based reason behind this, because many of us also disagree that we are grouped with the rest of S.E.Asia; but really if Vietnamese is given that treatment, then so should Korean and the Japanese group. it's gonna start a flamewar tho.

that is why i think we need this mechanism. the Mandate of Heaven is a concept unique to Chinese and those with heavy Chinese/Confucian influences (so Vietnam and Korea). that's why foreign dynasties all adopted Chinese customs and culture so as to get accepted by their subjects. but right now the game instead treats the EoC as a permanent foreigner, thus permanently suffer malus for non-accepted cultures. therefore holder of the mandate should automatically have all cultures in the Chinese group accepted in order to remove that malus. moreover, because you don't need to switch to a Chinese culture to avoid it, you get to keep your old group and thus also have benefit from having them too as non-hostile cultures. take Yuan for example: the Altaic group covers an incredibly large territory, so by having both the Altaic and Chinese part of your empire as accepted culture, you now can control an enormous realm with zero ethnic tension, perfect for a wide play style and as emulator of a Chinese Imperial dynasty.
