Please check our previous Imperial Council thread for any questions left unanswered

Welcome to the Imperial Council of r/eu4, where your trusted and most knowledgeable advisors stand ready to help you in matters of state and conquest.

This thread is for any small questions that don't warrant their own post, or continued discussions for your next moves in your Ironman game. If you'd like to channel the wisdom and knowledge of the master tacticians of this subreddit, and more importantly not ruin your Ironman save, then you've found the right place!

Important: If you are asking about a specific situation in your game, please post screenshots of any relevant map modes (diplomatic, political, trade, etc) or interface tabs (economy, military, ideas, etc). Please also explain the situation as best you can. Alliances, army strength, ideas, tech etc. are all factors your advisors will need to know to give you the best possible answer.

    Tactician's Library:

Below is a list of resources that are helpful to players of all skill levels, meant to assist both those asking questions as well as those answering questions. This list is updated as mechanics change, including new strategies as they arise and retiring old strategies that have been left in the dust. You can help me maintain the list by sending me new guides and notifying me when old guides are no longer relevant!

Calling all imperial councillors! Many of our linked guides pre-Dharma (1.26) are missing strategy regarding mission trees. Any help in putting together updated guides is greatly appreciated! Further, if you're answering a question in this thread, chances are you've used the EU4 wiki and know how valuable a resource it can be. When you answer a question, consider checking whether the wiki has that information where you would expect to find it, and adding to the wiki if it does not. In fact, anybody can help contribute to the wiki - a good starting point is the work needed page. Before editing the wiki, please read the style guidelines for posting.

    How rich are the advisors

    Posted: 20 Jul 2020 07:51 AM PDT

Can you imagine how much level 4 or even 5 level advisors get in China? They are richer than the king and their condition is greater than the treasury of all African countries combined! Edit: If translated into dollars, it turns out that advisers are paid trucks of dollars

IVE GOT A DEBT SPIRAL FIX!

    Posted: 20 Jul 2020 10:14 AM PDT

    Hellllo my mans,

After a few days of testing and trying different things, ive found 2 mods that, when used together, completely stop debt spirals (unless a country is thoroughly destroyed time and time again, even in which case they will bankrupt themselves)

Better AI was mentioned here before but the issue it had was that the AI still hired and refused to disband mercs, resulting in them losing lots of money for no reason. So I used Better AI with a mod that disbands mercs when AI is not at war.

The combination has had NO mercs in peacetime, NO unreasonable debt spirals and an AI that CAN KEEP CROWNLAND at a suitable level.

AI only tests had a France with just 5 loans by 1701, all 5 of which were repayed within 10 years. Autonomy within this France was all under 25%, it had a large army and no mercs.

The two links are the following

BetterAI mod (credit to Blablaxx): https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2021624153

Disband Mercs Mod (credit to Question): https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/threads/mercs-reason-for-performance-issues-in-1-30.1402395/

Get both mods, activate both at the same time, and enjoy AI that does at least as well as 1.29 (maybe even better due to all the cool stuff BetterAI adds)

Question about maxing out less known abilities.

    Posted: 20 Jul 2020 09:54 AM PDT

For example, we all know that Prussia has its discipline, Byzantium can achieve almost free stability boosts (amazing for no CB), with Britain you can achieve unbeatable navy and Mughals have their core cost reduction.

But what are some less known, maybe not as important as the ones above, maxed out bonuses that break a certain part of the game? Maybe some type of government, paired with national ideas, traditions and policies can make an African minor into a superpower of a certain field?
