Have "centers of independence" appear in the americas similar to the centers of reformation

    Posted: 14 Jan 2020 05:57 AM PST

Colonial empires are way too stable, and this could make the game even more fun, specially in the late game.

After 1700 there would appear "Centers of Independence" that would start converting the culture of nearby provinces into Mexican, Colombian, Caribbean, and so on. There would be a special modifier dependent on how many provinces have those cultures, the modifier would increase liberty desire and unrest.

This would be enhanced by many special events inspired by historical events

    Haitian Revolution

If this is a colonial nation with slavery and territory in the Caribean then there is a change that Louverture will appear and start a slave uprising, if successful it will become independent Haiti. Also Haiti would have a special event to turn one of its generals into a king.

In real life Haiti's king died of a blood cloth in the brain, but I often wonder what would have happened if he hadn't been so unlucky.

    Simon Bolivar

Somewhere in South America would appear Simon Bolivar and start MASSIVE rebellions in several colonial nation at the same time, any of which would have the opportunity to make him a President.

Also besides Colombia there should be an option to from The Republic of the Great Colombia, which would be a democracy but with Parliament mechanics, since that was the first proposed form of government by Bolivar.

    Grito de Dolores

If you have a colonial nation in Mexico you could decide to implement the Cast System, which would increase production and decrease autonomy but increase the base level unrest. If the Cast System is in place then the Grito de Dolores can happen, where provinces with native cores would produce Mexican Indepentist rebells at the same time.

The colonial nation would be able to recruit Felix María Calleja and Agustín Iturbide as 3 star generals to fight the rebels, but...

    Abrazo de Acatempan

If you are fighting rebels in Mexico then there is a chance that at some point this event will trigger. In real life Iturbide was sent to negotiate the surrender of Vicente Guerrero, who was a half native half black who had risen through the ranks of the rebel army. Instead of surrender they became friends and decided to overthrow the government together

This event would make you loose your generals, trigger even more rebellions, and create a new center of independence if there wasn't one there before.

    Mexican monarchy events

There could be 2 events that transform Mexico from a republic to a Monarchy. One would be to choose a local general, as was the case with Iturbide, and the other one would be to ask for a European Monarch from a country with high prestige, as was the case with Maximiliano. Maybe it's one event but can happen any number of times

    Continental Congress event

If a colonial nation in the East coast of the US successfully becomes independent this event would split that nation into at least 13 different independent nations, as it almost happened in real life

edit: I imagine there must have been a lot of heroes in the incan rebellions, but I don't know a lot about them, still, they could be inspiration for other events
