Requirements: Holy Roman Empire does not exist, control Paris, Barcelona, Northern Italy and a few other territories, Papacy is friendly (+100 opinion or more, or/and an alliance) or subjugated unless the country is of a different religion.

Effects: Obtain new mission tree, become an end game tag, gain 200 prestige, gain new events, and millitary discipline +10% for the next 3 decades.

Why the Mughals are ungodly overpowered

    Posted: 15 Oct 2019 06:34 PM PDT

As most of us would know already, the Dharma patch buffed the Mughals from good to the best civ in the game. However, I don't think a lot of people truly understand the magnitude to which they are better than the rest. I sure didn't until I did my first WC using them and had 40 years to spare while not playing particularly efficiently.

This post will explain just how broken the Mughals actually are, for the following reason

    Administrative efficiency

At the very end of the Mughal mission tree, there is a mission that triggers the Viceroyalty of Deccan event, which you can get an extra 10% admin efficiency from. This means that the Mughals can get to 80% admin efficiency, compared to 70% for most nations and 75% for a few like Bharat and Yuan etc.
This doesn't sound like that much, but is actually a massive upgrade. For example, let's take a 10 dev province.
With no modifiers, it will cost you 100 admin to core it. With just the standard 70%, you pay 30 admin for that province, while you pay 25 with Yuan and 20 with the Mughals.

If you take core cost reduction into the equation as well, this also puts the Mughals further ahead. For comparing this, I will compare the following three nations.

Ottomans: 20% CCR in national ideas but no admin efficiency bonuses

Yuan: +5% adm eff and 25% CCR

Mughals: +10% adm eff and 25% CCR

Ottomans: 100 admin, reduced by 45% (adm ideas plus NIs) = 55 admin, then modified by 0.3 from adm eff = 16.5 admin

Yuan: 100 admin, reduced by 50% (adm ideas plus NIs) = 50 admin, then modified by 0.25 from adm eff = 12.5 admin

Mughals: 100 admin, reduced by 65% (adm ideas plus NIs plus Hindustan culture bonus plus Iqta interaction) = 35 admin, modified by 0.2 from adm eff = 7 admin

also, keep in mind that the Mughals can get a further 10% CCR if they convert to Coptic, but Sunni is probably better for a one faith since you can convert TC land easily

In short, the Mughals can core provinces for 42% the admin that it would cost the ottomans, and only 56% what Yuan would pay, meaning they can basically take double the amount of land for the same cost of admin points, meaning you will almost never run out of admin points. Also, you take 33% less overextension for the same amount of land, and that land costs 33% less warscore to get.

All of this doesn't even take into account the cultural assimilation mechanic which means far fewer rebels for Mughals, meaning you can take way more overextension (not that you needed it since you take less than anyone else anyway) and take way more land in wars due to the warscore reduction.

I decided to make this post more for the newer players on here, since I would think most of the veteran players would know this, but I sure didn't before my WC run (despite having over 1300 hours when I started it)
