Hey Folks! I'm u/Stiopa866, the Missions Expanded Lead Developer and today I will be presenting my work on the Turkoman Federations on the intersection of Persia and Anatolia - Aq Qoyunlu and Qara Qoyunlu. In the Missions Expanded 1.8, both federations will receive new mission trees as well as a new formable.

But before we go into each mission tree, let's get to know more of their backstory.
The Two Federations

Qara Qoyunlu and Aq Qoyunlu are old Turkish names for black and white sheep respectively, and both of the nations start with cultures that have derived from the turkish immigrants. These nations can be considered bitter rivals, due to the historical conflicts they had with each other and other factors that differentiate them (Aq Qoyunlu were of Sunni religion and Turkish culture, while the Qara Qoyunlu were of Shia religion and Azerbaijani culture). Historically, when Shah Rukh died, the Qara Qoyunlu Sultan, Jahan Shah, has declared himself as independent of Timurid rule. This caused the heir of the Aq Qoyunlu throne - Cihangir, to declare war on Jahan Shah. In that war, Jahan Shah prevailed, and Cihangir submitted to him. Brother of Cihangir, Uzun Hasan, did not like this development, and so he seized the throne and continued the fight against Qara Qoyunlu. Uzun Hasan would eventually defeat Jahan Shah in 1467 ending the golden age of Qara Qoyunlu and seizing most of their territory, which included western Persia at that time.
Simply put, the history here is quite complicated, but very interesting nonetheless. Reading about the local conflicts has inspired me to create mission trees for both nations that would help simulate their rise.
The Qara Qoyunlu Mission Tree

The Mission Tree of Qara Qoyunlu focuses on subduing their brethren - Aq Qoyunlu, and then projecting themselves as the head of the family of the Sheep Federations. Moreover, they are tasked with quelling down the rebellious Armenia (which starts with over 10 unrest) and integrating their subjects. Both of the missions lead to conquests of Shirvan and Georgia and eventually - subduing Caucasia.
In the middle, the head of Qara Qoyunlu is assigned with expanding into Persia and restoring the Muslim city of Baghdad to its former glory, which then leads to safeguarding holy sites.
Qara Qoyunlu also gets a new event about Alvand Mirza, who was one of the governors of Mosul. Alvand Mirza would later rebel against his suzerain and flee to Aq Qoyunlu.

Historically, Alvand Mirza would then flee to Khorasan, once Aq Qoyunlu has submitted. In-game, Alvand Mirza flees when Aq Qoyunlu is losing the war against Qara Qoyunlu by over 40 warscore. In that case, Khorasan will get an event which will grant them the general and the general of Aq Qoyunlu will be removed.

Now, let's talk about the Aq Qoyunlu Missions. As you may have already observed, the White Sheep federation shares many of its missions with Qara Qoyunlu. That is due to the similarities both states had not only in their governing, but also ambitions. In this mission tree, Aq Qoyunlu first starts with their historical squabbles with Hisn Kayfa and Dulkadir, which then lead into the push against the Qara Qoyunlu, finally ending in conquests of Persia and projecting their power as The Horsemen. Aq Qoyunlu is also burdened with ending their civil war, which is raging in their northern provinces. Once the situation is calm, they have to decide whether they want to keep the friendly relations with Trebizond or not. In the end, Aq Qoyunlu gets to conquer the Georgian Realms and then to project their status as the Masters of the Mountains, likewise to Qara Qoyunlu.
The Gray Sheep
Now, let's talk about the new formable. Qir Qoyunlu (Gray Sheep) is now a formable that is meant to represent a union of both of the federations. It also represents a federation of tribes which have settled in, and are no longer nomads.

Qir Qoyunlu tree expands the previous trees on several levels - Persian Conquest is continued into Khorasan, you meddle in affairs of Arabian Chiefdoms, and you make attempts to modernize your country by building a standing army and investing in the Wealth of Nations - Trade. Furthermore, you also get to expand westward by conquering Anatolia and Syria.
